Life Sharing concept «Share your knowledge and you will achieve immortality» Dalai Lama File sharing File sharing is the act of making specified data files accessible to others. File Sharing can be done publicly such as on the Internet, or privately within a network. The files to be shared can come from a pc or a server. Access can be controlled and vary amongst clients, and files can be restricted from editing. A web server is a powerful network computer, which maintains files and folders for users on a network. Users on the network may have their own folder on the server, to store the work on, they will dial into the server from their personal computers and upload or download data. Whoever works with a computer on a daily basis, at least for a few years, will soon realize how with your computer you share most of your time, your culture (e.g. bookmarks), your personal relationships (thorough emails), your memories (images archives), your ideas and your projects. In short, a computer, with the passing of time, ends up looking like its owner's brain. If you accept the assumption of a computer being the thing that gets closer to your brain, you will also assume that sharing your own computer entails way more than sharing a desktop or a book, something we might call "Life Sharing". Life Sharing Life Sharing, an anagram of "file sharing", is a real time sharing system based on Linux: a computer sharing its hard-disk with the whole world via Internet: software, operating system, archives, tools, ongoing projects, mail. From the moment Life Sharing started - January 2001, every Internet user has free 24-7 access to 0100101110101101.ORG's main computer: read texts, see images, download software, check 01's private mail, get lost in this huge data maze. Users access contents through the browser, thus no technical abilities are required. Contents are not being periodically uploaded the way people build and maintain websites, because 0100101110101101.ORG works directly on the shared computer. The home computer has been turned into a transparent webserver, therefore users can watch in real time the "live" evolution of the work. Life Sharing is a brand new concept of net architecture turning a website into a hardcore personal media for complete digital transparency, it's the "empirical" demonstration that on the Internet it's possible to experiment new way of living, on the condition that we are willing to leave obsolete practices behind us. It is not an utopia, it's a way of living. Privacy is stupid. Everything is available for the user to view and copy: permanent infotainment for the peer to peer generation. On the technical side this is possible due to the exclusive employing of Free Software. On the "content" side we've substituted old Copyright with Copyleft, to leave the data free to flow. No limitations: share the intellect, begin from your own, every day.
