An artist-run server connected to the open Internet, distributing artwork as Torrents via peer-to-peer network. The server has no output, so the perception of the artwork is limited to the flashing lights and the noise of cooling fans. And yet, this artwork is distributed across many locations in a network, accessible to those who actively share the material with others: https://www.peer-to-peer.xyz
The server uses the museum’s connectivity and infrastructure to distribute the artworks. We designed the server cage based on existing data centres where extra empty space is a common feature, implying further infinite expansion to accommodate more data.
The Torrent client seeding the works.
A Torrent client downloading the works.
The cage prevents people from accessing it, but the yellow cable tray and the data it contains passes through it. Data can go where bodies cannot.
Installed at Frankfurter Kunstverein.
